Catherine Garlick is a Director within the Land Use Management Division of the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage, overseeing land administration and management across the Pilbara and Kimberley regions of WA and the Indian Ocean Territories on behalf of the Commonwealth. Catherine has worked in government for over 22 years across a broad range of areas and is known for her big picture and strategic thinking and collaborative leadership style working with agencies across government. Catherine originally developed her career in the environment sector including industry regulation, natural resources management, through to environmental impact assessment and strategic policy and now land administration. Catherine has had several roles within the Division across process improvement and contaminated sites and has particular interest in Mine Closure Planning and renewables. Catherine enjoys the diversity of work, challenges and complex problem solving involved with land tenure and native title and the opportunity to really make a difference. Catherine leads a team of over 30 people who together are responsible for a range of projects and stakeholders across the north of WA, including land assembly for big industry and projects and decarbonising the Pilbara, land activation at Bidyadanga to delivering important infrastructure for regional communities and economic and cultural outcomes for our Aboriginal partners.
