Speaker Bio
Ryan Manton is a Research Scientist in the Discovery Program at CSIRO, based in Perth. He specialises in lithium–pegmatite exploration, petrophysical characterisation, and the development of geometallurgical models that link geological data to processing outcomes. Ryan works closely with industry partners to design practical, data-driven workflows that improve decision-making across exploration and mining. His projects often integrate LIBS, HyLogger, petrophysical instruments, and mineralogical data to support resource characterisation and recovery forecasting.
His current focus is reducing interpretive risk and enhancing orebody knowledge for critical minerals such as lithium, gold, and rare earth elements. Outside of CSIRO, Ryan chairs the Geological Society of Australia’s WA Division, where he supports outreach, field trips, and professional development initiatives.
