Professor Katarina Miljkovic is a multi-award-winning planetary scientist with 15 years of experience working with NASA space missions. Trained as an astrophysicist in Serbia, she graduated PhD in planetary sciences from the Open University in the UK. She spent her postdoc years at Imperial College London, IPGP in Paris, and MIT in the USA. Katarina moved to Australia for a tenure-track position 10 years ago and has since held four fellowships, including the L’Oreal-UNESCO for Women in Science fellowship and the Australian Research Council Future Fellowship. Katarina was a science collaborator on the NASA GRAIL gravity mission to the Moon. She also led the only Australian team to participate in the science team for the NASA InSight mission to Mars that recorded the first seismic signals from interior of the Red Planet. In 2024, Katarina was awarded the Order of Australia Medal (OAM) for her service to science as a researcher.
