Dr Stephanie MacMahon is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Education at The University of Queensland. Her teaching and research are in the Science of Learning: a multidisciplinary field that combines education, psychology, and neuroscience research to understand how people learn across the lifespan. In particular, Dr MacMahon’s research interests are in human connection and learning, and in understanding how to effectively mobilise insights from the Science of Learning into practice in diverse educational and workplace learning contexts. She is the Co-Founder and Program Director of the UQ Learning Lab, a multidisciplinary team of researchers who work in partnership with educators and industry – including the mining industry - to understand and advance learning, teaching, and training. Her work with the mining industry engages the voices of frontline workers to understand how learning happens in the workplace, combining this with insights from the Science of Learning to build an evidence base of quality learning and training for frontline workers, mentors and supervisors.
