Maureen Hassall is a professor and director of the Minerals Industry Safety and Health Centre and the UQR!SK Initiative at The University of Queensland. Her research, teaching and consulting work focuses on using leading-edge systems thinking, technology, engineering and human factors approaches to deliver evidence-based innovations in risk management and process and systems safety. Professor Hassall’s academic endeavours are informed by 30 years of working for and with resources, chemical, energy, manufacturing and major contracting companies in Australia, New Zealand and North America. Maureen is also deputy chairperson of Board of Professional Engineers Queensland, an advisory board member of ECU MARs centre, SIMTARs research committee and guest board member of RSHQ’s BOE. She holds degrees in engineering, and psychology, a MBA and PhD.
